Schlotzsky's launches three new brisket sandwiches in US

FBR Staff Writer Published 07 March 2017

Schlotzsky's, a privately held franchise chain of restaurants, has rolled out three new brisket sandwiches in the US.

The brisket sandwiches, which come in Traditional, Cuban and Tex-Mex variants, are available at the company's restaurants.

Hand-crafted and anchored by hickory-smoked brisket, the new brisket sandwiches comprise layers of flavor and textures.

Fresh ingredients that are usually added to bakery café’s fresh-from-scratch buns are sprinkled as toppings on the sandwiches.

Schlotzsky's president Kelly Roddy said: "Our new brisket sandwiches reflect Schlotzsky's commitment to bold flavors and fresh ingredients, but also bring something entirely new and exciting to our sandwich menu.

"We know our customers are looking to be more adventurous with their food and as a Texas staple, brisket gives us a unique opportunity to create new menu items with flavors that tie back to our Austin roots."

The Traditional Brisket sandwich is filled with layers of cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, mozzarella, sliced dill pickles, red onions and BBQ sauce. It is served on a toasted sourdough bun.

The Cuban Brisket sandwich comes with ham inside it and is filled with Dijon mustard, sliced dill pickles, BBQ sauce and Swiss cheese. It is served on a jalapeño cheese bun.

The third new addition, Tex-Mex Brisket sandwich is filled with salsa verde, roasted red peppers, queso fresco, cheddar cheese, lettuce, chipotle mayonnaise and queso fresco. Like the Cuban Brisket, Tex-Mex Brisket is also served on a jalapeño cheese bun.

The addition of the three new brisket sandwiches comes about a year after the launch of seven hand-crafted specialty sandwiches in the US by Schlotzsky’s.
