Go Veggie unveils new and improved vegan shreds

FBR Staff Writer Published 16 March 2016

Go Veggie has improved the recipe of Vegan Shredded Cheese.

Using a proprietary process, GO VEGGIE reformulated its Vegan Shreds to deliver a better melt and nutrition profile.

Now made with non-GMO ingredients, GO VEGGIE Vegan Shreds melt, bubble and stretch just like dairy cheese - making them ideal for pizzas, pastas and nachos. What's more, the new and improved shreds have 30% calcium versus 2% from the leading competitor. Now with 100% more calcium and 85% less saturated fat than ordinary cheese, plus no cholesterol, lactose nor gluten, GO VEGGIE shreds are "The healthier way to love cheese."

"Not one to rest upon our laurels, at GO VEGGIE our goal was to replicate the cheese experience in every way while improving upon the nutritional profile. Not an easy task," said Whitney Velasco-Aznar, Vice President of Marketing at Galaxy Nutritional Foods. "After many rounds of product trials, we are confident that our 'better melt' shreds are the tastiest, stretchiest, and meltiest around. Just take a look at the photo and see for yourself."

Rolling out to conventional and natural grocery stores nationwide, GO VEGGIE Vegan Shreds come in three flavors - Mozzarella, Mexican and new Cheddar - just look for the "New Better Melt" burst on packaging. The 8-ounce pack has a manufacturer suggested retail price of $3.99. Typically found in produce near bagged salads, GO VEGGIE cheese alternatives also may be found in dairy or the natural set depending on the retailer. 5-pound bags are also available for foodservice.
