Evolve to buy Gorilly Goods and Supernola snacking brands

FBR Staff Writer Published 23 January 2018

Evolve Brands has conditionally agreed to buy US-based snacking brands Gorilly Goods and Supernola for an undisclosed price.

Privately-held Evolve Brands is a newly founded health-focused snacking company, set to debut at Fancy Food Show

The company intends to consolidate and operate Gorilly Goods and Supernola from Jackson, Wisconsin.

Evolve aims to market both the brands to the increasing healthy snack consumer through traditional and emerging channels.

Gorilly Goods, which is based in Wisconsin, manufactures organic snacks. Its portfolio comprises six products that are sold at certain regional and independent retailers in the US and Canada.

The brand was founded by Stephen and Chris McDiarmid in 2012. It manufactures a range of raw, on-the-go snacks in both savory and sweet flavors.

Gorilly Goods’ non-GMO ingredients include fruits, seeds, nuts and greens.

Supernola is presently available in four different flavors. Based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the snacking brand has been created and founded by entrepreneur Cindy Poiesz, who is also a partner at Evolve.

Evolve said Supernola is Certified Paleo and packed with anti-inflammatory superfoods.

Poiesz said: “The Gorilly Goods and Supernola brands align perfectly with Evolve's mission to actively create a better world through better food that is nutrient-dense, delicious and convenient.”

Evolve expects to see the newly branded Supernola with Gorilly Goods across targeted regional, national retailers and also with alternative retailers.

Evolve Brands partner Jimenez said: “Gorilly Goods and Supernola are a match made in heaven.

“While each brand has different targeted audiences, the synergy afforded by these brands is extraordinary.”

The transaction, which is expected to be completed next month, would also see Evolve maintain the manufacturing facility of Gorilly Goods brand in Jackson.

Supernola’s manufacturing will be moved to the Gorilly Goods facility, which is said to be gluten, grain, dairy and peanut free.
