Applegate works with USDA to recall chicken nuggets

FBR Staff Writer Published 07 March 2016

Applegate is working with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to recall approximately 9,000 packages of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets after a handful of consumers reported finding small plastic pieces in the product.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported.

Applegate is urging consumers to check for boxes of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets in 8-ounce boxes with a "Best Before" date of September 27, 2016. Packages can be returned to the retailers from where they were purchased for a full refund - no receipt required.

The products were produced in September 2015 and were shipped to retail distribution center in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.

"From the farm to families' tables, Applegate is committed to higher standards for all of our products," said Steve Lykken, Applegate president. "We are working diligently to identify the source of the problem and will correct it immediately."

No other Applegate products are affected by the recall. For more information, consumers can visit www.applegate.com or the company's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/applegate. Consumers with other food safety questions can also contact the USDA at AskKaren.gov.
