Amish Farms Brand Sunflower Kernels voluntarily recalled by Hickory Harvest Foods

As part of the ongoing recall of sunflower kernel products supplied by SunOpta that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, Hickory Harvest Foods is voluntarily expanding the recall of Amish Farms 5.5 oz. Sunflower Kernels to include a second lot.

The product being recalled may contain sunflower kernels recalled by SunOpta, Inc. Hickory Harvest Foods produced the product being recalled for Amish Farms, and SunOpta, Inc. supplied the kernels. Amish Farms is providing this information to its customers in an effort to alert consumers who may have purchased this single lot of the Amish Farms Sunflower Kernels.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

NO ILLNESSES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL HAVE BEEN REPORTED.

The product being recalled is marked with a BEST IF PURCHASED BY date of 04/20/17 and is packaged in printed clear plastic bags containing 5.5 oz. of product.

Consumers are urged NOT to eat this product. Consumers who purchased this product may return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund or exchange, or they may simply discard the product.
